Military
Museum
Reopens
One-Day Free
Admission Offered
Sunday, March 14,
2010
The Pennsylvania
Military
Museum,
Centre County,
will reopen to the public at noon on Sunday,
March 14, 2010 with free admission on this date
to commemorate the granting of the Charter from
Charles II to William Penn which founded “Penn’s
Woods” in 1681.
“The second Sunday in
March has always been celebrated as something
special within the Pennsylvania Historical and
Museum Commission,” says museum educator, Joe
Horvath. “Free admission on this day is
offered by many sites and museums within the
Commission. We thought it would be an
appropriate date to plan our reopening after
being closed for the winter season.”
“Our monthly lecture
series is getting finalized; the living history
encampments are being organized; fair, festival
and walk-a-thon planning meetings are
scheduled. We’re getting squared away for
a busy 2010,” says Horvath.
The Pennsylvania
Military Museum and 28th Infantry Division
Shrine, administered by the Pennsylvania
Historical and Museum Commission, is located on
South Atherton Street (Business Route 322) in
Boalsburg, Pennsylvania; three miles east of
State College and the Pennsylvania State
University.
